The Season of Styx Malone

by Kekla Magoon

Caleb and his big brother Bobby Gene are about to embark on a roller coaster ride of an adventure.

Do you want to join them?

When the boys get a new, unbelievably cool 16-year-old neighbor named Styx Malone, the possibilities seem endless.

What starts out fun escalates (or should I say "elevates" — that bad pun will make sense once you've read the book) beyond their control.

This is a great book for those who enjoy hijinks and adventure but who are also looking for heart and meaningful exploration of how to decide who you are in the midst of tough decisions.

Content Notes: This is an appropriate and carefully-written middle grade novel with respectful discussion of friendship and identity.

Some families may want to note that there are discussions of the foster care system, emotional trauma (without graphic details), and some risk-taking behavior.
