Audacity
by Melanie Crowder
This novel in verse weaves a story inspired by real-life Russian immigrant Clara Lemlich and her activist work to get fair labor conditions in New York City's garment industry.
We'll use this beautiful book to talk about labor rights, strikes, and what it means to create a world that's fair.
Content Notes: This book is emotionally intense and includes oppression based on gender and religion (especially antisemitism). There are definitely powerful moments of pain and struggle, but there are no graphic descriptions of violence.
